Role Overview

Help create high-quality training data that improves document AI for Telugu and other scripts that are often difficult for parsing and vision-language systems. You will turn real, publicly available Telugu PDF pages into detailed structural maps and accurate Telugu-script transcriptions. Source material includes newspapers, textbooks, examinations, flyers, forms, manuals, menus, brochures, notices, and worksheets, with challenging content such as handwriting, multi-column layouts, tables, diagrams, and mixed-script pages.

Key Responsibilities

• Review assigned PDF pages, which are provided for you, and confirm that each page is Telugu, legible, substantive, and free of personal information before annotation begins.
• Identify, bound, and classify every meaningful page region, including titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, diagrams, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields.
• Assign component types and reading-order indexes that accurately reflect how the page is read, including across multiple columns.
• Link regions to their related figures or tables using parent component identifiers.
• Transcribe all text exactly as shown in Telugu script, including handwritten text, and flag regions that cannot be read clearly.
• Record page metadata, including language, document type, source, page dimensions, and indicators for tables, formulas, and handwriting.
• Review colleagues'' tasks end to end as an experienced annotator.

Qualifications

• Native-level Telugu fluency, including full command of Telugu script, orthography, diacritics, and conjunct forms.
• Experience with document annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review.
• Exceptional character-level accuracy, including careful handling of diacritics.
• A consistent, systematic approach to applying a taxonomy across large volumes of pages.
• Comfort working with unfamiliar layouts, including multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten forms.

Preferred Experience

• AI data annotation, labeling, grading, or bilingual evaluation for regional-language training data.
• MTPE, subtitling, bilingual quality assurance, OCR correction, or post-editing.
• Telugu document typesetting, copy-editing, proofreading, or digitization.
• Unicode normalization, Telugu input methods, and precise numeral and character-form handling.

Quality Expectations

• Capture, accurately bound, and correctly classify every meaningful region on each page.
• Produce Telugu-script transcriptions that match the source character for character, rather than transliterations.
• Submit work that passes second-expert review on the first review cycle.
• Identify unsuitable pages before substantial annotation time is spent.
• Prioritize accuracy, while handling time is also tracked.

Work Terms

• Remote, hourly engagement.
• All annotation and transcription work is completed in Telugu.

Compensation

• $11 per hour.
